Anti-government protestors carry a wounded protestor from the site of clashes with security forces, in Sana'a, Sept. 18, 2011.
The Yemeni Air Force has bombed several villages around the capital, Sana'a, with reports incoming about civilian casualties, Press TV has learned.

The airstrikes came as pro-regime forces launch a violent crackdown on anti-government protesters in the capital.

The exact number of casualties and locations of the targeted areas are not yet clear.

Forces loyal to the Yemeni dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, have killed at least 60 Yemenis since Sunday, when hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets demanding the removal of Saleh.

Hundreds of others were also wounded in the past 24 hours. Medics say the death toll is expected to rise since some of the injured are in critical condition.

Yemenis have been calling for the removal of Saleh, who has been in power for almost 33 years, since late January.

The long time dictator, who in Saudi Arabia, however, said that he would not resign until a presidential election is held to determine his successor.
