Face-to-face with Ocampo

The Ocampo six will know on September 1, 2011 whether the case facing them will go to trial.
Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova set the date for confirmation of post election violence charges against William Ruto, Henry Kosgey and Joshua arap Sang.

Trendafilova however said the date may be subject to change.
She said if the Chamber is satisfied with evidence given by the prosecutor, it will set a trial date reassuring the three of adequate time to prepare their defence.
Judge Trendafilova said the three are innocent until proven guilty, they have the right to access material incriminating them and will be free to rebut the charges.
Former Higher Education Minister, William Ruto ,Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey and radio presenter Joshua Sang appeared on Thursday before the Pre-Trial Chamber judge at the International Criminal court.
Judge Trendafilova said statements attributed to the suspects may be construed as carrying out crimes and may substitute summonses with warrants of arrest.
The judge said the Bench expects the suspects to cooperate and it will not hesitate to impose sanctions in the event of any deviation.
The remaining three of the Ocampo Six, Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Francis Muthaura and Postmaster General, Hussein Ali shall make their inital appearance tommorrow.
