Fake police steal BMW from Chinese student in Moscow

Two unidentified thieves dressed as policemen have effortlessly deprived a 40-year-old Chinese student of his BMW -3 car in western Moscow, a police source said on Tuesday.
The Chinese citizen, who is studying in Moscow's State Technical University (MAMI), turned to police on Monday, saying that two men purporting to be police stopped him near his home on the luxurious Rublyovskoe highway.
"The perpetrators told the Chinese that his BMW was being sought and took the car documents and keys from him, along with 17,000 rubles [$600]," the source said, adding that men dropped the unfortunate student near Vodny Stadion subway station.
The property loss which the Chinese suffered is estimated at 1.7 million rubles ($60,000). If the car thieves are caught they may face up to 12 years behind bars.
