THREE youths have been stabbed in a brazen attack at a teenage birthday party, in which the alleged group of offenders have returned to the home to continue stabbing.
A St Albans man was celebrating his birthday at his Occold Court home in Melbourne's west when a fight broke out in the front yard between some of the 30 guests and a group of up to 10 young men.

Police do not yet know if the group was originally invited to the party, but all parties knew each other.
Police say members of the group turned on a 22-year-old male guest, who received serious stab wounds to the head, and a 21-year-old woman was hit on the head with a glass bottle.

The group of men, aged between 17 and early 20s, were asked to leave the party, as the party's hosts tried to maintain order themselves.

But the group returned shortly and tried to enter the home again through the back door.

Then another fight broke out in which the 18-year-old birthday boy and a 20-year-old man were stabbed.

Police soon arrived at 1.30am, having been alerted to the attacks after the first man was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious head injuries.

Keilor Park Sgt Calum McCann said it was a warning to those hosting parties to call police early before a situation got out of control.

"They've tried to keep the peace as much as they could and keep the matter contained, but unfortunately when we have young people and alcohol things can get out of hand,'' said Sgt McCann.

"Things started to get out of hand and people tend to take things upon themselves these days rather than notifying police.''

Three men - a 22-year-old from Kings Park, a 20-year-old from Queensland, and a 17-year-old boy - have been taken into custody.

Anyone with information should go to Crime Stoppers or phone 1800 333 000.
