PM Odinga still favourite presidential canditate, new poll indicates

Prime Minister Raila Odinga remains the most preferred presidential candidate if elections were to be held now, an Infotrak Harris Poll indicates.
According to the poll conducted between September 20 and 23, about 41 per cent of Kenyans would prefer Raila, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta at 19 per cent.

Gichugu MP Martha Karua comes third with 11 per cent, then Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka (nine per cent), Eldoret North MP William Ruto (seven per cent) and Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth (five per cent).
Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa has two percent support beating Water Minister Charity Ngilu, Internal Security minister Prof George Saitoti and Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi who have one percent support each.
MPs Bonny Khalwale, Najib Balala and Paul Muite have 0.5 per cent support, while Danson Mungatana and Mutava Musyimi have 0.3 per cent and 0.2 per cent respectively.
The new poll results were released by Infotrak CEO Ms Angela Ambitho at her offices in Nairobi on Friday.
The polls show a one-percentage increase for Raila compared to the August results, while Uhuru has moved up two per cent.
Karua has moved down four percentage points, Ruto has lost six while Kalonzo has moved up three percentage points.
However the popularity shift for the past six months is negative 1.2 percent for Raila, 1.7 percent for Uhuru, 0.2 percent for Karua, zero for Ruto and negative 0.3 percent for Kalonzo.
The poll was conducted in a random sample of 1,500 respondents in face-to-face interviews.
The interviews covered all eight regions but included only 24 of the 47  counties.
