Israel destroys two Palestinian homes

Mon Dec 5, 2011 5:19PM
Israel has destroyed two more Palestinian homes in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem), defying international calls for putting an end to demolitions.

Israeli interior ministry officials accompanied by security forces demolished two buildings in Silwan and Beit Hanina on Monday.

The buildings were "illegal, with court-issued demolition orders," a ministry spokeswoman told AFP.

Palestinians say that their efforts to construct a free and independent Palestinian state will prove fruitless as long as Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes.

Israel occupied the West Bank as well as East al-Quds (Jerusalem), which Palestinians consider the capital of their homeland, during the 1967 Six-Day War.
