A Somali officer says a suicide bomber dressed in a military uniform tried to enter the headquarters of the Somali army in Mogadishu but was shot dead by troops.Lt. Hassan Hussein said seven Somali troops were wounded after the bomber detonated the explosives on Tuesday. Hussein says that only the bomber was killed.
Al-Qaida- linked militants with the al-Shabab group have carried out several suicide bomb attacks in Mogadishu.
Somalia’s weak military is backed by 9,000 troops from Uganda and Burundi who are fighting al-Shabab as part of an African Union peacekeeping force.
