KISMAYO (Sh. M. Network) – Al shababa fighters in Kismayo town, the regional capital of Lower Jubba region in southern Somalia on Tuesday banned Somali women from working completely.

Residents said the women in the region face countless problems from Al shabaab administration in Jubba regions.

A woman in Kismayo town, who made contact with Shabelle and asked her name not be used, said that Somali women in the region were rejected to work in Kismayo seaport to win the bill for their poor families.

The women also reported they were banned from working cafeteria after 4:00 PM local time.

“Selling Khat in the center of town was banned from the women” she lamented.

“After these orders were introduced, some of the local women went to Mo’allin Mohamoud, Al shabaab’s judge in Kismayo to ask him for loosing strict orders” she stated.

Since the fall of former central government of Somali in 1991, the lives of so many Somali families depend on the work of Somali women who pay extra ordinary efforts to help their children.
