An elderly German and his Ugandan girlfriend have been arrested and two more guns with 163 bullets found on them in an operation on illegal weapons in Nairobi.
The two were arrested alongside a Kenyan at their Runda residence in an investigation into an earlier seizure of four other pistols on Sunday.
Police also seized two handcuffs and 20 artificial vibrators from the house. This brought to six the number of guns and 206 bullets recovered and five suspects arrested.
The German told police he uses the handcuffs to tie his girlfriend.
On Sunday night, police seized a browning, short gun, American Colt and a Glock pistol with 43 bullets.
Monday night the officers raided the German’s house and found a revolver and Astra pistols with 163 bullets.
Police said the German insists he is a businessman in the country and that he did not have permits for the weapons.
They were all expected in court Tuesday. The recovery started following an argument over a parking lot in a dramatic incident in Nairobi’s Hurlingham area.
A motorist Joseph Kiptoo had parked his car in Hurlingham and gone to buy household goods.
On returning Kiptoo found another car with two men identified as James Waitiki Kamau and Paul Mangondu parked next to his.
Kiptoo told police he asked them to give him way so that he could drive off. According to Kiptoo, the two did not bother with his pleas to give him way.
According to his statement to police he walked to the car seeking to know what was wrong. Instead, the two picked up a quarrel and started to beat him up.
Kiptoo rushed to the nearby Kilimani police station and reported the incident. Police accompanied him back to the scene and found Mangondu but Kamau had escaped.
Kiptoo pointed to Mangondu as one of those who had assaulted him, which led to his arrest. But on arrival at the police station he denied he had assaulted Kiptoo saying it was Kamau who had done it.
He told police Kamau had a weapon in his car, which he left as he escaped but he did not know if he was licensed to carry it.
Nairobi Area PPO Anthony Kibuchi, said the officers went back to the place where the Toyota Prado car was parked and conducted a search where they found a pistol with ten bullets.
It was then that police launched a hunt for Kamau who was traced to a house in South C where he was arrested.
He later led police to another house in Runda estate where three more pistols and 33 bullets were seized.
Kibuchi said they were yet to establish the motive of possessing the weapons.
Mangondu and Kamau are said to have recently returned from the US, they told police they are businessmen.
Investigations are ongoing.
