An Officer Commanding Police Division and ten other junior police officers have been sacked for allowing the passage of terror suspects with explosives from Garissa to Nairobi.
The immediate former Garissa OCPD Felix Munyambu is alleged to have on May 4, 2012 authorised the escort of two suspected terrorists from Garissa to Nairobi.

The other officers, six regular police and four Administration Police at the Tana River Bridge allowed suspected terrorists to travel to Nairobi with explosives.
Some of the terrorists who passed through the Tana Bridge were later arrested in Matuu at a police roadblock with 8.8 kilogrammes of explosive.
Internal Security Minister Katoo ole Metito urged police to be patriotic whenever they are posted to ensure safety of Kenyans at large.
“I wish to assure diligent and patriotic officers that their effort in the fight against terrorism will be acknowledged and rewarded,” said Metito as he asked commissioner of police to promote the group of officers who intercepted the explosives in Matuu.
He said some officers were falling into the “temptations” of the terrorists to compromise the country’s security. But he warned the Government will not hesitate in taking action on those found to be in the mix of the issue.
In the Matuu incident, six suspects were arrested after it emerged the bomb was to be divided into two to attack people at the Nairobi International ASK show that ends Saturday.
The bus had left Garisa and was headed to Nairobi when it was stopped at a roadblock in Matuu.
The bus had 60 passengers when it was detained and all on board disowned the luggage that had the two explosives.
