UK agrees referendum on Scottish Independence




In two years time Scottish voters will be given the opportunity to vote in a referendum of independence. If voters say yes, this will see them break away from the United Kingdom. Our UK correspondent Hassan Alkatib has this report.

Dubbed as the "most important political decision in 300 years" of Scottish history, a deal was agreed on Monday between British Prime Minister David Cameron and Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond on Scotland's potential independent future.

'Do I believe that independence will win this campaign? Yes I do. And I believe we will win it by setting out a positive vision for a better future for our country both economically and crucially also social. And it is that vision of a prosperous and compassionate society, a confident society moving forward in Scotland which will carry the day.'
