Al shabaab arrests men, women in southern Somalia town

JOWHAR (Sh. M. Network) – The Al shabaab fighters on Tuesday apprehended men and women after search operations in parts of Middle Shabelle region in southern Somalia, witnesses said.

The group accused the arrested people, whose number were 20 of committing deeds against the Islamic religion.

The operations were conducted at some villages near Jowhar town, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) just north of Mogadishu, according to local residents.

Al shabaab said the persons jailed were doing a traditional play called (Aweys) which the group has totally banned in the past.

Al shabaab, which has been labeled a terrorist group, announced its allegiance to Al Qaeda Network and intends to impose harsh version Wahabiya based doctrine of Islamic Shari a law in overall war-decimated Somalia.
