How to be good to yourself and others, Islam is the way .

Allah said: seek the abode of the Hereafter through what God has given you, and do not forget your part in this world. Do good to others as God has done good to you, and do not try to spread corruption in the land. Surely God does not like corrupters." Al-Qasas (77) Quran
 Abu Huraira narrated that a man said "Advise me! "The Prophet said, "Do not become angry and furious." The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious." (Bukhari vol 8 no 137) Hadith
"The people who love the life of this world have left it without tasting the best thing therein." He was asked: "What is that?" He answered: "Knowledge of the All-Mighty Allah" - Malik ibn Dinar (not a Hadith)
None of you truly believes (in Allah and His religion) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself (Bukhari)Hadith
Narrated Abu Huraira. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Allah has forgiven my followers the evil thoughts that occur to their minds, as long as such
thoughts are not put into action or uttered." And Qatada said, "If someone divorces his wife just in his mind, such an unuttered divorce has no effect." (Bukhari Vol. 7 No. 194) Hadith
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr (r.a.): The Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alayhi wa salam said to me:► "Never belittle anything from good deeds even if you meet your brother with a smiling face." [Muslim 6690]
