An airstrike by a US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has killed at least 9 civilians and wounded several others in southern Somalia, Press TV reports.
The US drone carried out attacks Sunday morning near the Bilis Qooqani districts in southern Somalia, leaving nine people dead and 14 others wounded.
The US has expanded the number of its aerial attacks by unmanned remote-controlled aircraft in Somalia. Many civilians have fallen victim as a result.
Somalia is the sixth country where the US military has engaged in unauthorized aerial bombing campaigns through the use of its remote-controlled aircraft.
The United States has also deployed its drones for aerial attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen.
Washington claims the airstrikes target militants, though most of such attacks have mainly resulted in civilian casualties.
