Bosasso (RBC) Fame traditional elder slain overnight in the commercial city of the Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland.
Unidentified gunmen assassinated Salah Abdisalam Ahmed who was local elder shortly after he left from Al Rahma mosque in east village of Bosasso where he prayed evening prayer.
Residents told RBC Radio that three masked men with pistols opened fire that lead to his death. Several persons were also injured with the bullet fire.
The murders escaped instantly as they shot the local elder who is believed was their main target.
The reason of this killing is still unclear.
This is the second assassination occurred in Puntland regions within 24 hours. On today noon a peace activist working for Puntland Development and Research Centre was killed in the centre of Garowe, the capital of Puntland.
The security officials have not yet given comments.
Puntland is relatively peaceful region in Somalia but such escalating acts of killing innocent persons could slow down the security level in the region.
